Rate Your Advisor

You are exposed to risk of bad financial advice when you select an advisor based solely on information that's controlled by the advisor. Advisor controlled information is called sales literature, pitches, and presentations. This type of information has one purpose - sell you investment and insurance products.

Verbal information is particularly risky because you have no written record of what the advisor said to win control of your assets. It's your word against the advisor's for information that's misrepresented or omitted. Plus, sales pitches reflect the advisors' personalities and selling skills so it's easy to overwhelm you with their pitches.

There's an easy solution for selecting advisors that puts you in control of the information you need to select a quality professional. You can use a "free" Registry questionnaire to obtain written information from advisors that documents their knowledge and integrity. Then you can use a Registry rating system to determine advisor quality. This process answers five critical questions:

  • Do I have a five star advisor or a one star advisor?
  • How competent is my current advisor?
  • How ethical is my current advisor?
  • How much am I paying for advisory services?
  • Does my advisor have any conflicts of interest?

What About Advisors Who Refuse to Answer Questions?

Lower quality advisors will refuse to answer your questions for three reasons:

  • The advisors responses will expose their weaknesses
  • The advisors may have misrepresented this information when they sold you their products
  • The advisor's answers will negatively impact their future sales results.
